Blooms and Berries Fruit Farm

OUR FIRST FIELD TRIP
We had a great day for the first field trip as a class.  The skies were blue, the clouds were white and the sun was shining brightly.

First we took a hayride to the pumpkin patch where we all got to pick out a pumpkin to take home.

On our way we saw other children coming back with their pumpkins.  We waved to them and they waved back.  The kids all thought that was funny.
We also saw a field of sunflowers.  Bigger than the sunflower patch we planted at school.

And then there it was  "THE GREAT PUMPKIN PATCH"

They went searching for their pumpkin.  Picking one up, looking at it and deciding if that one was the right one.

He went to the every end of the pumpkin patch to find his perfect pumpkin.

So happy to have found the one he liked.

Even Ms. Sara found one for herself to that home.

Finally we all collected a pumpkin and were ready for the ride back to the farm.

On our way back we encountered big leaves falling on our heads.

Even saw a bigger pumpkin patch.

One activity at the farm was that the children had to prime a old fashion water pump to get the water going down the drough that sent the rubber ducks to the other end.

There was a tunnel for them to go through. On the outside it was covered with hay bales.

All of them standing inside a teepee made out of corn stalks.

Blooms and Berries had some farm animals for the children to look at.
These guys were pecking at a ear of corn that was on the other side of their pen.

Sheep eating some grass.

Cows relaxing in the grass.

Goats eating grain.

Even a Mommy and a baby donkey.

The children and Ms. Sara had lots of fun playing in the corn box.
They were tossing the corn up in the air.  Covering their feet and hands up to make them disappear in the corn. Some even filled up their hats and then put them on to have the corn fall out over their heads.

FIRE AND RESCUE TRUCK

City of Mason Fire and Rescue truck came to visit!!!

Firefighter Dan was preparing to show the children what he would look like if he were to come to their house in case of a fire.

Everyone was very interested in what he was doing.

Firefighter Dan had the children feel how heavy his jacket was before he put it on.

LOOK HOW DIFFERENT HE LOOKS NOW!

The firemen had to cut their visit short because they had a call to go on.
On their way out the lights and sirens were going.
The children thought that was VERY COOL!!

How Does Your Garden Grow.

The Cincinnati Museum Center came to visit us to talk about gardens and what
plants need to grow and the types of plants.

Feeling cotton.

Labeling the parts of a plant.

Pretending to be a plant. We started off as a seed.

We got watered and started to grow.

The sun shone down and we grew some more.

We went outside to dig in dirt and found: worms, seeds, bugs, etc.

We used the dirt to plant a bean seed in a little cup to take home.

LET'S GO CAMPING!

The preschool and pre-kindergarten classes have transformed their rooms
to become a camp site this week. They have done some creative camping activities
in their classrooms and outside. One of our families brought their 1981 VW  camper
van to the school for the children to explore. The  children looked at the beds,
stove, refrigerator, and table inside. Then they walked around the outside
of the van to see any differences from what their cars look like compared
to the camper. It was great fun!

Thank you for letting us see this cool VW camper!
