Using our Senses and Some Bonus Pics

Also in July we did an activity about our senses.
We started off using our sense of hearing.
We listened to the sounds around us as we sat outside.
We heard: trucks, the construction next door, wind, birds, and cars.
Below are more of what we did.

The children were asked to us their sense of smell to find
a scent that Ms. Donna rubbed on the bark of the tree.
If they found the smell they were asked to identify it.

No one found the smell but many thought they did.
Even after being shown where the scent was and everyone smelled it
they still didn't know what the smell was!
It was coffee grounds.

Next the children were asked to find something to draw.
They were encouraged to look at the details of their object(s).
This boy drew an impressive picture of our creek.

The toddlers did tree rubbings.

BONUS PICS
Ms. Kris made chalk paint. The entire school were invited to play.

Some of the children from the summer group made a game
using cardboard and a box.
The cardboard pieces were numbered 1-12.
The box was converted into a dice labeled with 1, -1, 2, -2, 3, -3
The object was to get to the finish line first.

They enjoyed moving their game around. This time the game lead
into the pine trees.
