Acting Like Woodpeckers

The summer group and the toddlers learned about Woodpeckers
in July. They listened to woodpeckers on a bird CD.
Then participated in some fun activities.
Have a look!

They children had to peck the floor with their fingers when they
saw a picture of a woodpecker.
Some of the kids used their noses!

The children used a wooden stick to find bugs in a ball of play dough.
Similar to a woodpecker finding bugs in a tree.

Then the children used wooden clothes pins
to peck objects around the big room.
The idea was to find a hollow object.
Woodpeckers knock on trees and listen for hollow
areas to find where the insects are.
